I am not one of those psychiatrists quick with a prescription pad. There are times when medication treatment is appropriate and important. However, I believe that medication should be offered only after a thorough evaluation. And it must occur along with careful follow-up and with a special concern for medication side effects. I also believe that medication works best when used in combination with therapy.
